Congratulations! You've studied for months, taken hundreds of hours of tutorials, poured through docs, done thousands of lines of code, spruced up your resume, completed your LinkedIn profile, even built yourself a spiffy new portfolio website to show off your new-found skills, and are now ready to introduce yourself to your soon-to-be awesome IT job! Now it's just a matter of uploading your resume to Dice, Monster, Career Builder and maybe a couple of other job posting boards, and waiting for people to contact you. You're thinking to yourself, ``I hope I don't have to wait too long before getting calls. I'd really like to get a new job sooner than later``.

Well... you should be careful what you wish for.

WEEKLY I GET 10 TO 20 EMAILS ABOUT OUTSOURCING MY RECRUITING TO INDIA...ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME...I DON'T WANT CANDIDATES IN THE US TO GET CALLS ABOUT AMERICAN JOBS FROM INDIA

It seems like the vast majority of the people calling you or e-mailing you have thick Indian accents (even the ones who call themselves ``Richard Davidson`` or ``Jerry Smit``) Their greetings almost always start off the same way, and they all seem to have almost exactly the same questions for you. A couple of hours ago when the torrent of people started, you were probably thinking to yourself, ``gee, getting a new job is gonna be easy! Look at all these people calling me. I must be really, awesome!``. You've gone to feeling like the hottest woman in a single's bar to feeling like a piece of meat in a job hunting meat grinder in a matter of ours, and now the elation of your new found popularity have given way to a dizzying sense of dread as you look at your 50+ email in your inbox.

I AM REPRESENTING A CANDIDATE HERE IN THE USA...GOT HER AN OFFER AND COMPANY HAS AGREED TO SPONSOR HER H1 VISA SO SHE CAN STAY IN THE USA...I ASK HER WHAT SALARY DO YOU NEED TO GET TO TAKE THE JOB? 3 TIMES NO ANSWER...GIVE ME A FUCKING BREAK...JUST SAY A NUMBER. SO I GET HER AN OFFER OF $130,000 TO WORK REMOTE FROM HER HOME FOR A MID-LEVEL POSITION...SHE SAYS ITS NOT ENOUGH...SO WHAT IS THE NUMBER? NO ANSWER! FUCK THIS...TALENTHOLE!

My cover letter states - in gigantic red letters - that I only want to deal with American recruiters. It has dramatically decreased the flow of both calls and e-mails from the offshore clan. Some do slip through, or flat-out ignore it, but it seems to be working well for me. I'd say I've cut my e-mail and phone call traffic by about 75% with this one tactic.

You get perpetual emails everyday from recruiters who have gotten a hold of your resume. Some are right on the money...and a lot are way off....Indiscrimenate Spammers (Job Boards and Recruiting Agencies) email you based on key words on your resume. If you stated on your resume that your orientation is PAN Sexual...they would send you sex jobs too!
